The department of cardiothoracic Surgery was established in 1988is the important professional clinical diagnosistreatment center in Suzhou . In 2014,the department was awarded with Suzhou key specialty.At present, there are 50 patient beds4 unique postoperative ICU beds in the department. About 1,000 cases of cardiothoracic operations are performed annually. The department is comprised of fifteen staff with  five  professors, five attending surgeonsfive residents.

The department of cardiothoracic Surgery is one of the few general thoracic surgery doctoral training bases  in Suzhou university.It is also the base of thoracic surgery regulation training in Jiangsu Province.

Our department specializes in surgical treatments of lung, esophagus, mediastinum , chest wall diseases, severe thoracic traumapalmar sweat syndrome.In addition to conventional surgery, we have particular expertise in the management of complex surgical treatment of the thoracic diseases. The diagnostictherapeutic techniques have been in the leading position in Suzhou,such as the use of cardiopulmonary bypass to assist the treatment of complex chest tumors.In addition,We constantly strive to investigateincorporate the latest minimally invasive surgical techniques, such as radiofrequency ablation (RFA)video-assisted thoracic surgery (VATS)—each for lung cancer.For example, the first single-hole thoracoscopic sleeve pneumonectomy was carried out in Suzhou .
