The Second Affiliated Hospital of Soochow University (NIGH: Nuclear Industry General Hospital) hosted the 30th anniversary of the Sino-France Friendship Hospital International Medical Forum on November 4th, 2022. The medical feast is shared with experts from all over the world, celebrating international collaborations  and  academic communications during the last 30 years.

The experts attending the meeting were: Ji Jing, Vice Mayor of Suzhou Municipal People’s Government; Zhang Xiaohong, Vice Secretary of the CPC Committee  and  President of Soochow University; Meng Yanbin, Assistant to General Manager of CNNC, Secretary of the CPC Committee  and  Chairman of China Baoyuan; M. Xavier ASSFELD, Attaché Scientifique, Science  and  Technology Consul of French Consulate General in Shanghai; Sheng Le, Secretary of the CPC Committee  and  Director of Suzhou Municipal Health Commission; Qian Fuliang, Secretary of Party Working Committee of Suzhou Medical College of Soochow University; He Jianrong, Secretary of the CPC Committee  and  Director of CNNCMED, all members of the hospital leadership team, experts from clinical departments,  and  representatives of the main departments in the hospital.

Ms. Ji Jing pointed out that Suzhou Municipal CPC Committee  and  Municipal Government gave top priority to the development of health care. According to Ms. Ji, Suzhou had recently benefitted from an abundance of top-notch medical health resources  and  the level of medical science  and  technology was improving rapidly. These developments would not have been possible without international collaboration  and  academic communication. Since the establishment of the Sino-French Friendship Hospital, through the in-depth cooperation with France  and  other countries, the scientific research  and  academic level of the Second Affiliated Hospital of Soochow University had been continuously improved,  and  the results of discipline construction  and  personnel training had become increasingly apparent. The medical technology had reached a high level in the fields of emergency  and  critical care, neurological diseases  and  tumor radiotherapy, especially in the fields of nuclear emergency medical rescue  and  nuclear characteristic medical treatment, making a positive contribution by protecting the life  and  health of the people in Suzhou  and  surrounding areas. We hope that Suzhou medical science  and  clinical specialty will “Go out”  and  “Bring in” to promote the high-quality development of health care in Suzhou.

Dr. Zhang Xiaohong emphasized that the 30th anniversary of Sino-French Friendship Hospital is a milestone for the hospital,  which is also a new beginning for moving forward  and  creating new glories. He aspired for all medical educators to uphold the socialist ideology of Xi Jinping  and  the ideology of people-centered development,  and  to keep in mind the responsibility of teaching  and  educating. He wished all medical educators to stick to innovation-driven development strategy, moving towards the construction goal of a "highly internationalized center for the integration of medical education  and  research", actively promoting global cooperation, consolidating long-term cooperative relations, educating talents with international vision, making new greater contributions to the construction of a community with a shared future for all mankind.

Mr. Meng Yanbin said that the Nuclear Industry General Hospital is the first Sino-French Friendship Hospital in China. It attached great importance to medical  and  health communication between China  and  France. Over the past 30 years, the Nuclear Industry General Hospital has made great progress in its development, with improving influence and  reputation,  and  has become the example for the application of nuclear industry in the medical  and  health field. He also pointed out that the hospital should fully implement the instructions of General Secretary Xi Jinping,  and  firmly grasp the strategic opportunity of high-quality development of public hospitals. As well, the hospital should continue to increaseexchanges between France  and  China,  promote the development of public health care in both countries. Mr. Meng said that the hospital should increase the medical application of the nuclear technology,  and  adhere to the mission of "nuclear technology for happiness of all mankind", promoting the integration of production, teaching,  and  research. The hospital should help CNNC to build a high-level industrial chain of nuclear technology, making new contributionsduring the implementation of the “Health China” strategy  and  the construction of a world-class nuclear industry.

Prof. Xavier ASSFELD, Attaché Scientifique, on behalf of the Embassy of France in China  and  the Consulate General of France in Shanghai, expressed his gratitude to the Sino-French Friendship Hospital for its contribution to the medical technology exchange  and  cooperation between the two countries. He pointed out that medical development had no borders,  and  medicine was an important part of Sino-French communication. In 2022, Sino-French medical exchange in medicine, education,  and  research will gradually go deeper.

Prof. Ruan Changgeng, academician of the Chinese Academy of Engineering; Huang Ping, Deputy Director of the Department of International Cooperation of the State Atomic Energy Agency of China; Shen Yanfeng, member of the CPC committee  and   Deputy General Manager of CNNC, all sent celebrating videos.

Huang Ping emphasized that the Sino-French Friendship Hospital had become a medical security base for the development of Chinese nuclear industry. The Sino-French exchange should strive to make breakthroughs in nuclear medicine, radiation medicine, medical treatment of nuclear emergency, etc. Shen Yanfeng pointed out that the Nuclear Industry General Hospital is a model of friendly cooperation between France  and  China in the field of nuclear industry  and  medicine. The 30 years’ cooperation is beneficial  and  fruitful, enhancing the friendship  and  promoting the health care between the countries.

Xu Bo, Secretary of the CPC Committee of the Second Affiliated Hospital of Soochow University, said in his speech that with the support of CNNC, Suzhou City,  and  Soochow University, the hospital cooperated closely with French collaborators, striving to keep up with the advanced medical technology in France. The hospital held its founding principles  and  continued to reach new goals. The hospital prioritized international cooperation  and  communications under the spirit of the 20^th CPC National Congress, making every effort to create a healthy China, Chinese modernization,  and  a community of human health destiny. The hospital took advantage of the chance for international exchange  and  cooperation,  and  participated in international medical cooperation in teaching, research  and  clinical transformation, making a significant effort to develop leading medical talent  and  offer top-notch medical services. The hospital would make every effort to build a national first-class hospital with distinctive nuclear characteristics, a highly internationalized clinical research center with integrated medical education  and  research, making new contributions to the high-quality development of health.
