Hospital Profile
Established on December 30th, 1988, the Second Affiliated Hospital of Soochow University (SAH-SU) is also named the Nuclear Industry General Hospital (NIGH), the Sino-France Friendship hospital. SAH-SU is an “A-Class Tertiary Comprehensive Hospital” committed to delivering clinical care, scientific research, and medical education. SAH-SU has National Advanced Stroke Center, National Chest Pain Center, Radiation Medicine and Radiation Protection Clinical Center of State Key Laboratory, sub-center of State Key Laboratory of Translational Medicine and Innovative Drugs, fourth clinical department of Nuclear Accident Medicine Emergency Response Center of State Commission of Health.
Medical Services
There are four districts in SAH-SU, with a total construction area above 256,000 square meters. By the end of 2023, SAH-SU has over 3,500 employees including 44 Doctoral Supervisor and 142 Master’s Supervisor, as well as 15 recipients of The State Council Government Special Allowance. There are 53 clinical and medical departments in SAH-SU, around 2,050 available beds, one national key clinical specialty construction project, 5 key disciplines and 16 clinical specialties of Jiangsu province. The hospital took the lead in developing neurosurgery keyhole minimally invasive technology in China; and carried out laparoscopic and arthroscopic minimally invasive surgery early in China. The hospital has a number of advanced medical equipments, including MDCT, PET-CT, linear accelerator, 3.0T MRI, HYBRID-OR, et al.
Special Medical Technology
The hospital is the medical support base for the development of nuclear industry and the technical support sub-center of National Nuclear Emergency Medical Rescue. The hospital is the training base of National Nuclear Emergency Medical Rescue Team and the National Nuclear Emergency Medical Rescue. It is also the fourth clinical department of the Nuclear Accident Medical Emergency Response Center of the National Health Commission. The hospital has a national key laboratory of Radiation Protection Clinical Center, International Atomic Energy Agency Radiation Emergency Preparedness and Response Capacity Building Center, Nuclide Diagnosis and Treatment Center. Emergency Rescue, First Aid and Critical Care is the key work of the hospital.
Research & Education
The hospital owns 1 Post-doctoral Research Stations in clinical medicine, 1 Master and Doctor degree Station in the first level (Clinical Medicine). The hospital is the national resident standardization training base, also the national drug clinical trial base. The medical laboratory technology major is the provincial first-class undergraduate specialty construction point. In the STEM ranking of Chinese hospitals/Chinese medical schools, a total of 21 disciplines entered the national top 100 in the last three years, and 4 of them entered the national top 50.
International cooperation
The Public Assistance Hospital of Paris (AP-HP): established the name “Sino-France Friendship Hospital” which has lasted for over 30 years;
CHU de Strasbourg: provides complete training for intensive care unit (ICU);
CHU de Montpellier: established the first lymphoma specialist clinic and sleep disorder clinic;
CHU de Grenoble: established the first remote diagnosis center in neuroimaging and cooperated to establish “trauma center”;
The Cancer Institute Hospital Of JFCR: signed a memorandum of bilateral cooperation in gastrointestinal cancer surgery since 2018.
