The Department of Plastic and Cosmetic Surgery was established in 2005 and has experienced rapid growth and development over the years. It is currently recognized as a key specialty in Suzhou and serves as a masters and doctoral training site for the Plastic Surgery program at Soochow University. The department has previously chaired the Plastic Surgery Professional Committee of the Suzhou Medical Association. In 2022, it was ranked 34th nationwide in the STEM rankings.
The department comprises 5 specialized groups: Refractory Wound Group, Skin Tumor Group, Scar Group, Aesthetic Surgery Group, and Skin Laser Aesthetic Group. It has a 30-bed inpatient ward and a large aesthetic center. The team includes 6 senior experts, 4 attending physicians, 1 resident physician, and 2 technicians. Among them, there are 6 doctor of medicine, 3 medical doctors c and idates, 2 master of medicine, and 16 nurses. The department has made significant achievements in medical practice, education, and research. It has secured 3 National Natural Science Foundation grants and 30 provincial and municipal-level projects. The team has published 50 SCI papers and 30 papers in Chinese Core Journals. Several research outcomes have been awarded provincial science and technology awards, including 2 second prizes and 3 third prizes at the provincial level, as well as 2 second prizes and 1 third prize at the municipal level. Many of the departments techniques are at the forefront domestically and advanced internationally. The department has successfully performed tens of thouss of plastic and aesthetic surgeries and is equipped with advanced photonic and laser devices.
