Department of Urology, undertakes the clinical diagnosis and treatment of urology and and rology diseases. Offers a variety Master and Doctoral degree programs of Soochow University. Awarded as a municipal key clinical specialty of Suzhou since 2006 , key discipline of Suzhou since 2015. key clinical specialty of Jiangsu Province since 2018.

There are 103 beds, more than 70 doctors and nurses, including 11chief physicians, 9 associate chief physicians, 2 doctorate tutors, 9 master postgraduate tutors. and 10 people have studied abroad for further study.

Department features
Minimally invasive technique:
1. Nephrolithotomy, ureteroscopy, laparoscopy and other techniques for the treatment of urinary calculi are carried out regularly, the first minimally invasive technology for urinary lithiasis in Suzhou area. The Chinese Medical Association East China area lithiasis control base Suzhou sub base.
2. The first to carry out the resection of prostatic electrovaporization, and the operation of transurethral resection of bladder tumor and urethral stricture in Suzhou area. The most advanced green laser system has been introduced in the province to conduct prostate selective vaporization (PVP) for the treatment of benign prostatic hyperplasia and exp and to the treatment of bladder tumor, posterior urethral stricture and gland ular cystitis. 3. The first to carry out the resection of laparoscopic radical prostatectomy, radical nephrectomy, nephron sparing partial nephrectomy, pyeloplasty, radical nephrectomy, pyeloplasty and retroperitoneal lymph node dissection in Suzhou area. The treatment of urological and male reproductive system tumor：
Regularly carry out nephron sparing surgery and radical nephrectomy for advanced renal cell carcinoma, embolization of advanced renal cell carcinoma, removal of inferior vena cava tumor thrombus, replacement of caval vein, stardized immunological therapy and targeted therapy of angiogenesis inhibitors.
Regularly carry out transrectal ultrasound guided prostate biopsy is used to diagnose early prostate cancer, radical prostatectomy, radioactive seed implantation for prostate cancer, endocrine therapy and chemotherapy for advanced prostate cancer. Advanced prostate cancer patients with dysuria were palliative green laser vaporization treatment.
Regularly carry out transurethral resection of bladder tumor, green laser vaporization, total cystectomy, and intestinal cystectomy were performed for bladder cancer and so on.
Disease of adrenal gland:
The diagnosis of adrenal tumors such as pheochromocytoma, primary aldosteronism, Cushings syndrome, minimally invasive surgery, and postoperative follow-up were regularly carried out. Diagnosis and treatment of male erectile dysfunction and infertility，as well as the standardized treatment of prostatitis.
2017, Department of Urology, the Second Hospital Affiliated to Soochow University was successfully introduced to the andrology team of Professor Jiang Hui. Microsurgery for andrology was carried out at present.
Female urological surgery：
Female outpatient department of Urology is set up to regulate recurrent urinary tract infections and standardize treatment of unstable bladder and urethral diseases. Regularly carry out vaginal urethral tension sling suspension (TVT, TOT).
Scientific research
Department of Urology, the Second Hospital Affiliated to Soochow University undertake the project of the Ministry of education (M.D. category) , special guidance fund of the Jiangsu provincial science and technology innovation and transformation (major scientific and technological support and innovation), the natural science foundation of Jiangsu Province, provincial science and Technology Commission for social development fund ; the Provincial Health Department of medicine, University of natural development fund science foundation; Soochow University medical development fund; subject and research center of social development fund and the Ministry of health of Suzhou science and technology development project etc. The continuing education and learning class was successfully held at the national and provincial level of "basic and clinical research on prostate cancer". International cooperation in research
Department of Urology, the Second Hospital Affiliated to Soochow University have been promoting international academic exchanges for years：
Cooperation with University of Pittsburgh in DNA damage repair. Dr. Zang Ya-chen and Dr. ZhouYi-bin have worked as a visiting scholar in University of Pittsburgh Medical Center, and published several high-quality peer reer-reviewed papers. Also, Professor Wang visited our hospital every year.
From 2012, cooperation with Prof. Chawnshang Chang from the University of Rochester Medical center, focusing on the basic research of prostate cancer. We consecutively sent Prof. YANG Dong-rong , Dr. ZHU Jin, and Dr. TAO Wei to Prof Chang’s Lab in America to do research. Also, we often invite Prof. Chang invite lectures regularly. The cooperation is fruitful. We already published several papers in high impact journals include JBC and Molecular Cancer Therapeutics.
May 2013~January 2014, Dr. LIU Xiao-long, as visiting Scholar in the Division of Hematology/Oncology & Comprehensive cancer center, University of Alabama at Birmingham. He had performed and accomplished successfully a project that characterizes the role of o-linked glycosylation in urological oncology. and won the research project bidding as follows:
